We were thrilled to be able to reopen again on July 4th 2020 after the first lockdown. In particular we were very happy to be able to provide a well deserved, relaxing and fun holiday away from home for our guests, and grateful to receive lots of feedback about how safe everyone felt with the new measures we put in place.

As part of us being able to reopen safely, our industry bodies, working alongside Government, issued us with extensive guidelines on cleaning and social distancing which continue to be updated regularly. These are to ensure the safety of our guests, our cleaning staff, and our own family. While many of these guidelines have now been relaxed things will continue to be a bit different to normal, and we are asking for everyone’s cooperation to make it possible.

The already thorough cleaning we normally do in each cottage between guests now has to essentially be done twice. This “double clean” involves everything we usually do, then going over it all again with a virucidal disinfectant. The result of this is that we need extra time for each changeover, so we have set the arrival time at 4pm (rather than 3pm) and ask that guests depart no later than 9.30am (rather than 10am) on their final day. We wish we didn’t have to do this, but it really is essential in order for us to clean thoroughly. Please help us by observing these times.

We provide a disinfectant spray bottle in each cottage for guests’ use, and there is alcohol based hand sanitiser at various locations around the farm for when soap and water isn’t easily available.

We also ask that you make note of the following:

Please strip your beds before leaving - Sorry to have ask this but Government is advising we have to assume that someone in your party could be carrying the virus (especially as many people don’t show symptoms). It is thought that removing bedding could disperse any potential virus into the air, so the advice is for guests to strip the beds themselves. We will provide large plastic bags for the bedding to go in.

Please empty all the bins in the cottage and put into the outside bins.

Please fill the dishwasher with a full load of crockery, cutlery, pots and pans and set it running before leaving - even things that are already clean.

We have removed certain things that you would normally find in the cottage. Due to the risk of touch contamination we have been advised to remove as many non-essential items as we can, such as ornaments, games, information leaflets etc. In the play barn we have also taken the ball pool balls out, as these would be very difficult to disinfect each week!

We introduced a rota for use of our indoor facilities, ensuring that each cottage has exclusive use of both the play barn and swimming pool for an hour every day safe in the knowledge that no one else will use the facility at the same time. Please note that as of April 1st 2022 the rota is no longer being used.

Covid Cancellation Guarantee

In these uncertain times, we hope it is reassuring to know that if you are unable to travel to take your holiday because of a national lockdown, or because you are put into a Tier where you are unable to travel, we guarantee that you will get a full refund. Please note that the refund guarantee applies only to the address given on the booking at the time of booking being put in a high tier, and when the travel restriction coincides with the period of your holiday.

The refund guarantee covers lockdowns and tier restrictions, but does NOT cover you (or members of your party) being unable to travel because you (or a member of your party) fall ill with Covid, or are required to quarantine or self-isolate. These events can be covered by you taking out travel insurance. There are a number of policies that include cover for illness with Covid and self-isolation (example links below that we believe cover both) or you can look for suitable cover on comparison sites such as www.gocompare.com. Not all policies that claim to cover Covid include self isolation or quarantine so be sure to check the wording.

We are not selling, promoting, endorsing or recommending any particular product, and do not benefit financially from, nor have any formal relationship with, any of these providers. Nor can we be responsible for a policy failing to respond to a claim.
